Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design

The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) developed the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System that paves the way towards creating environmentally responsible, healthy and prosperous environments that improve the quality of life for everyone. The LEED certification system establishes the standards for green building. Building green can be achieved by taking many different innovative and efficient design components and combining them into a product that is more valuable on a multitude of levels.

This includes:

  • Careful attention to produce a site layout that minimizes disturbances to natural amenities while focusing on enhancing the overall livability and accessibility of the improvements.
  • Improved building systems that produce a superior indoor environment while reducing operating expenses.
  • Utilizing natural amenities such as sunlight, shade, fresh air, rain water, plants and more in a manner that reduce costs and improves overall performance of the building.
  • Maximizing the use of materials that are recycled, recyclable, renewable, locally available and non-toxic.

MFRA has committed itself to become a leader in the green building marketplace.
