Ecological Site Assessment

MFRA ecologists are essential members of our design teams, working closely with our urban designers, landscape architects and engineers to achieve the objectives of both the private client and the City.

Key to this success has been our ecologists’ ability to use a site’s natural characteristics in harmony with other urban design objectives. Designing with nature includes preserving water features and their buffer edges, saving specimen trees and prime woods, creating public open spaces for parks or trails, and providing views to natural features from housing or streets.

Wetland Services

Services closely related to ecological site assessment are wetland delineation and impact mitigation. Our experts are knowledgeable of the complex surfacewater regulations of the US Army Corps of Engineers, the Minnesota and Wisconsin Departments of Natural Resources, and the Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Resources.

Environmental Impact Documents

Environmental documents have become an integral part of the public review and approvals process for many land development projects because of the growing size of many new neighborhood plans.

For private land development projects, McCombs Frank Roos Associates has prepared numerous Minnesota Environmental Assessment Worksheets (EAWs) and Alternative Urban Areawide Reviews (AUARs). We have the staff expertise needed to address most of the required subjects and established working relationships with experts in other subjects. We understand the state and federal rules involved and can lead a client through the process with confidence.
