Wastewater Treatment for the Food Processing Industry
The disposal of liquid waste from food processing plants takes on greater importance when industries consider the expansion of present plants, location of new plants, and bottom line performance. EPA grants to Cities for wastewater treatment plant construction have morphed into merely loan programs, and many municipalities are no longer interested in expanding their facilities to provide capacity for their industrial citizens. Quite the contrary; Cities are actively pursuing ways to pass the cost to the end user and, many times, the blame for the failing performance of the treatment plants. Faced with these scenarios, the industry must find ways to control, clean-up and reduce its industrial wastewater.
Each industry, and plant within the industry, has its own unique set of problems. There may be two cheese processing plants, both the same size, but one has a butter line and the other doesn’t; one has a dryer and the other ships out wet; each one results in a unique set of water characteristics and, therefore, requires an individual design to accommodate and correct the wastewater problems.
Many times, there can be more than one method of treatment that will effectively handle the waste. However, the design of a treatment plant and the type of plant designed can often result in high operation or utility costs. Therefore, when we undertake solving wastewater problems, we analyze the waste against a matrix of various processing types available. We will price the various alternatives and arrive at the most cost-effective system.
As you consider your present processing problems, plant expansions or new plant construction, let MFRA help guide you through the maze of environmental problems, to find a cost-effective way of disposing of your wastewater.
