The City of Isanti desired to reconstruct Main Street and enhance safety with a more pedestrian friendly Main Street, improve "eye-appeal," update the associated infrastructure, and improve storm water management. In order to address these needs, as well as maximize access to local businesses, MFRA undertook five simultaneous reconstruction projects with Main Street and connected local roads on a fast-track basis. Within each project, MFRA prepared water system upgrades, replaced much of the sanitary sewer, installed new storm sewer, and designed new roadway, curb and gutter, and sidewalks using brick pavers. These designs were prepared in accordance with CSAH standards and Chapter 429 processes. This project was completed under the $1.8M budget and ahead of the 8-month schedule. According to Carla Vita, Isanti City Planner, "Local businesses and residents are delighted with the upgraded look and pedestrian orientation of their new Main Street."
