Little Falls Pre-treatment

The City of Little Falls operates a 2.4 mgd municipal wastewater treatment facility. In 1997, an ethanol co-op requested that the City provide pre-treatment of the effluent from its plant. MFRA was retained to evaluate alternatives for design, complete final design, secure MPCA approval, observe construction and supervise start-up operations.

In order to complete this 3-year project within 8 months, a fast-track approach was used.

Three separate construction contracts were awarded, which enabled the plant to be designed while construction was proceeding.

To date, the facility has achieved a BOD removal efficiency in excess of 98 percent. Following completion, MFRA was retained to prepare a Facilities Plan to accommodate future residential and commercial growth.
