Following the consolidation of a major portion of the old Township of Frankfort, the City of St. Michael became eligible for Municipal State Aid road funds. At this point, Frankfort Parkway became a concept in the city's transportation plans. As the city's municipal engineer, MFRA worked closely with staff to meet these traffic demands with the planning and development of an aesthetically pleasing parkway. As developers came forward with their plans, MFRA worked with them and the city to provide a corridor for this new collector street. MFRA designed Frankfort Parkway to State-Aid standards and obtained approval for construction from the Minnesota Department of Transportation. The first section of Frankfort Parkway was completed in the fall of 1999. Two additional sections were added in the summer of 2000. The center median of the parkway is landscaped with trees and pavers. MFRA continues to work closely with the City of St. Michael and developers to further expand this parkway west as residential development increases in this portion of the city.
