Camp Ripley Storm Sewer Evaluation and Design
|
|
Since the early 1980's, the Camp Ripley cantonment area was subject to extensive flooding problems. With plans to add new facilities within the area, the problem was likely to worsen. MFRA was selected to evaluate the Camp's existing storm sewer system, making recommendations to correct any deficiency found in the system, and prepare all required construction plans and specifications. MFRA completed an extensive storm sewer evaluation report and submitted it to the Minnesota Army National Guard for review and approval. After funds had been appropriated for the recommended improvements, the storm sewer system was designed to meet the Camp's needs. These designs included using parts of the existing storm sewer to minimize cost. Camp Ripley staff indicated where and when future buildings would be constructed throughout the cantonment area. This information was then used to design and construct a storm sewer system that would meet future capacity requirements. Camp Ripley staff was pleased with MFRA's work, and our contract was extended to include design and construction of more projects, including: a stormwater detention ponds system, oil/water/grit separator, a wash platform, and a treatment and re-circulation system. Total project cost over a seven-year period was $8.8M. Change orders for all these improvements were less than 1.5% of the total project costs.
